Welcome to Wyedean Canoe Club

Welcome to Wyedean Canoe Club (WCC) based at Symonds Yat on the River Wye, with its beautiful scenery and famous rapids.

WyeDean Canoe Club has been around for over 50 years and is affiliated to British Canoeing. It's non-profit making and run by volunteers.

We are an all-inclusive club and encourage and assist members to achieve their personal paddling goals. We offer the opportunity for paddlers of all ages, backgrounds, abilities and disabilities to enjoy kayaking and canoeing safely with qualified coaches.

If you are interested, come on down and see if kayaking or canoeing is for you. Please contact us for more information.

The club provides coaching in canoe and kayak, the opportunity to take British Canoeing awards in canoe or kayak as well as slalom training (we have a very strong slalom team). We organise trips that range from local rivers to week long trips abroad.

We meet every Thursday evening in British Summer Time at Symonds Yat East (with thanks to Wyedean Canoe Centre who allow club members to park in their car park for free on Thursdays) from 5.30 pm. Courses, led by our qualified coaches, run from 6.00 – 8.00 p.m. Experienced paddlers can have a quiet paddle up the beautiful Wye river or have fun downstream on the rapids.

As well as river kayaking and canoeing the club has active slalom and sea kayak paddlers. Typically, we organise trips to the coast for each bank holiday and a week-long summer trip.

From October to March (GMT) we alternate weekends between a pool session to practice skills and rolling, and white-water trips.

Our slalom team will also be busy during the winter months competing or practicing around the country.
