Our Committee
Chairman
Jeremy Stanton
Jeremy has been a member of the club for 19 years and has been chariman for 12 of those. He began paddling in 1977 with scouts, and remembers camping at Biblins campsite and running trips around there for years. He later returned to paddling in 2006 with his family.
His favourite part about being a member of the club is talking to other members on a club night, especially if they are new. He recognises it’s important to make sure everybody is happy with what’s going on at the club and has an opportunity to speak up if they want to talk.
Health & Safety Officer
Membership Secretary
Phil Moses
Phil joined the club back in 2019 at the age of 60. Whilst he expects some to snigger “Blimey, that's a bit old a little bit late to enjoy all the aspects of Kayaking!”, he is confident that there is always be something happening at the club for him.
Since joining, he has taken on a huge amount of responsibility. Primarily, Health and Safety Officer, which covers all club activities from Thursday club night to any river trips. He also covers the role of Membership Secretary and editor of the monthly newsletter, Throwlines.
Treasurer
Simon Rolls
Simon joined the club in 2018. He started out in kayaking the same year when his two boys took it up at school.
They two kids decided to take up slalom when they joined the club as a family, and they’ve enjoyed all the club has had to offer since.
Equipment Officer
Under 18s Coach
Tracy Hughes
Tracy joined in 2011 withy her 2 sons. She began a novice but quickly got hooked, and quickly worked her way through the awards. She enjoys the winter white water trips in South Wales every year.
She gained her level one coaching certificate in 2013, and has coached the Under 18s ever since. Tracy also helps coordinate the winter pool sessions for the club.
Committee Member
Julie Davies
Julie has been paddling since 2016, starting off with just a Sit on Top kayak and bags of enthusiasm to get paddling, then joining Wyedean to learn how to be a good paddler. It all just snowballed from there, as Julie wanted to give canoeing a go too, now on a coaching pathway for canoe and kayak (but her love is the open or canadian canoe). She especially enjoys journeying and trips including the trad skills such as poling, tracking and canoe sailing, having e done two Canadian wilderness trips which were fantastic experiences. She also loves the simplicity of a trip on our local rivers in the UK. There's something magical about travelling by river, the wildlife seems less bothered by your presence and its great to see the countryside from a new perspective.
There's nothing better than the woodsmoke smell of a campfire or Kelly Kettle, being self sufficient carrying all you need and the company and sounds of nature!
Julie has been on the committee since 2019, helping with general club admin, running trips and events such as our litter pick paddles.
